Keeping On Top of Pests: Termites

Pests can cause real problems around your home. Last year, termites started to attack the fabric of my wooden home. I was devastated when I realised how serious the problem could be if it was not addressed. I started to panic but my wife calmed me down and told me to ring the local pest control contractor. The contractor came out to my property the next day and treated the wood with a solution which would kill the termites. Thankfully, we caught the problem at an early stage so my home is going to be OK. I hope you like this blog.

Termite Treatments – Two Solutions That You Can Employ On Your Property

As long as you live in Australia, termites are a real concern you should have. These critters can cause irreparable damage to your house, leading to extreme property loss. Thus, if you want to maintain the integrity of your house, regularly check for signs of an infestation and have a professional pest control specialist come and mitigate the risk. However, exterminating termites should not be your only course of action. In fact, prevention is always the best measure to take, as this drastically minimises the potential of developing an infestation in the first place. Read on for two types of termite treatments that you could elect to employ on your property.

Soil termite treatments

As suggested by its name, this termite treatment is applied directly into the soil on your property. Nonetheless, the procedure is not as straightforward as it sounds. Rather than sprinkling the treatment around your property, the pest control specialists will start by digging a shallow trench around your property's foundation. Once the trench is complete, the specialist will apply the termiticide in the trench. The main reason behind this is to deal with any termites right from the ground since these insects are primarily subterranean.

Once the trench is treated, it is filled up with soil so you can rest assured that your property will not appear disrupted. Soil termite treatments are advantageous in two main ways. First, they will exterminate any existing termites as they carry the poison back to their colonies. Secondly, the termiticide creates a barrier that protects you from future infestations.

Wood termite treatments

Since termites have a high affinity towards timber, it is unsurprising that there will be a treatment solution that is exclusively directed at timber structures. One of the main advantages of wood termite treatments is that they are available in various forms. From surface sprays to foam applications and even injected sprays, you can be guaranteed of finding a wood treatment that is convenient for your needs and budget friendly too.

For instance, if you are newly constructing your residence, the pest control specialists can utilise surface sprays on your timber supplies to protect them from possible termite infestations. Alternatively, if you already have your house built but are concerned about termite colonies, the specialists can utilise the timber injections or foam treatments to keep termites at bay. It is also advisable to use wood termite treatments in tandem with soil treatments for enhanced efficacy against termites.
