Keeping On Top of Pests: Termites

Pests can cause real problems around your home. Last year, termites started to attack the fabric of my wooden home. I was devastated when I realised how serious the problem could be if it was not addressed. I started to panic but my wife calmed me down and told me to ring the local pest control contractor. The contractor came out to my property the next day and treated the wood with a solution which would kill the termites. Thankfully, we caught the problem at an early stage so my home is going to be OK. I hope you like this blog.

Four Types Of Termite Treatment That Can Help Your Infestation

There are a lot of options when it comes to termite treatment, but what kind of treatment is right for your home or business?

It depends on the type of termite that's infesting your property. A professional can help you determine this and recommend a treatment plan during a termite inspection. Here are four termite treatment options to consider:

1. Injections Can Be Effective Termite Treatment

The most common way to treat termites is by injecting the property with termiticide. This is done by drilling a hole into the soil and inserting the injector into the ground. The termiticide is forced up through the soil and into the tunnels of the termites, killing them instantly. This is an effective treatment because it kills all of the termites in their tunnels at once instead of just a few at a time as they come up to feed on wood.

2. Talk To A Pro About Baiting For Termite Treatment

Another way to treat for termites is through baiting. This involves placing bait stations around your home or property that contain food laced with termiticide. The termites come out of their tunnels in search of food, eat some of this bait, and die instantly as a result. This method is very effective when used properly but requires more maintenance than injections since it requires regular inspection of bait stations to ensure they are being used properly by pests and to refill them when necessary.

3. Pest Control Agents Can Use Steam For Termite Treatment

Steam treatment is another option for killing termites. A professional will use a special machine that shoots steam into your home's walls and floors to kill any termites inside them. Steam treatment is less invasive than other methods, so it's more popular among homeowners who want to avoid damaging their property during treatment.

4. Termite Barriers May Be An Effective Termite Treatment

If you have a large property that's difficult to treat, then this may be the most effective option for you. Termite barriers involve placing a substance around the outside perimeter of your home that repels insects such as ants and cockroaches while also killing off any existing pests within its reach. In addition to repelling insects, the substance also prevents them from entering your home. You can buy barrier products from most hardware stores or pest control companies. If you have questions about whether a barrier will work for your specific situation, talk to an expert before buying and installing it.
